CONSORT Group and Start-ups

The first staffing project for foreign businesses coming into the Russian market was carried out in 1993: a large international FMCG company entrusted us with a search for the head of their representative office and a financial director in Ukraine. Since then searches for start-up projects’ executives have become an important part of our business activities; we assisted companies from a great variety of industries — from complex equipment manufacturers to IT and pharmaceutical companies, retailers, and many others.

Facilitating entry into a new market requires a serious involvement on the part of our consultants and a large amount of extra work — advice on the specific region’s overall situation, its labor market and accepted “rules of the game” as well as strong support in negotiations with the candidates. Often we help our clients conduct the first interviews, evaluate candidates together with our clients, and are entrusted with preparing an employment contract and negotiating its terms and conditions.

The search for senior executives is accompanied, as a rule, by finding initial staff for a start-up — the chief accountant, assistants, sales managers and the like. Besides, “a newcomer to the market” may at first require a range of outsourcing services. Providing such a one-stop-shop service package to the client saves time and ensures comfortable interaction.

CONSORT Group’s practical experience includes examples of arranging market research, PR campaigns, promo activities, and legal and visa support through our reliable partners, and many other things for our clients’ start-up ventures that contributed to developing start-ups in the market and strengthening trust between the client and our Group.

Russian and CIS markets are now becoming increasingly attractive to investors so clients turn to CONSORT more often for help with initializing start-ups. Last year alone we placed CEOs in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Ukraine. Our partners in the International Executive Search Federation (IESF), which we have successfully represented in Russia and CIS since 2005, are happy to refer to us their customers entering this region’s markets as they have no doubts concerning CONSORT Group’s search quality: searches completed in 2014-2015 by the St Petersburg and Moscow offices for start-ups from Germany and the US have been recognized in IESF as professional benchmarks. The General Representative in Russia which we found for our US client was recognized at the end of 2015 as the most successful in this major international corporation!
